Very nice custom salad system, large schnitzel for kids, tasty burgers, with interesting caramelized onions, better than others that I tasted. The onion strips were done in a way that they were crunchy, not oily not over burned, just very good. The cold drinks section is very nice also. Interesting juice options. My son got the Melon juice and it was very tasty. The service was fast and good, perhaps also because it was Sunday afternoon and the place was a bit empty. The restrooms are neat and large and spotless, and designed in a playful manner, with wood and stone and cool posters. The restaurant is in the very center of Waldkirchen, right by the typical ( for Bayern villages ) Maypole totem.
found this place by accident and glad we did. a bit more than we wanted to pay but definitely worth it. recently refurbished to a very high standard. breakfast buffet was delicious and the owner and his staff very friendly, helpful and professional. we are in the restaurant one night and food was very good. would definitely recommend :-)
A disappointing evening despite a promising start. I visited the one of the onliest restaurants in town that serves dinner into the evening, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, the night fell short of expectations. To begin with, the wait for the starter was excessively long. While the delay was frustrating, the taste of the appetizer almost made up for it—almost. It was evident that the kitchen could produce quality food when it finally made its way to the table, but the time it took cast a shadow over the meal. The root of the problem became apparent as the evening wore on: the restaurant was severely understaffed. This is a significant issue, particularly for the only restaurant in the area that remains open in the evening. Despite the best efforts of the lone waitress, who was polite and attentive throughout, the service was painfully slow. It was clear that the sluggish pace was due to the shortage of staff, not any lack of effort on her part. When the main courses arrived, they further highlighted the inconsistencies of the evening. The traditional dish of Käse-Spätzle, accompanied by a side salad, was marred by a critical flaw—the salad contained grit, suggesting it had not been washed properly. This is an oversight that simply cannot be overlooked. In contrast, the second main course, a chicken dish with a side of potato and cucumber salad, was a success. The flavors were well-balanced, and the ingredients were fresh, offering a glimpse of the potential that the restaurant could achieve with better management and attention to detail. In the end, despite some highlights, the overall experience was underwhelming. The long wait times, combined with issues in food preparation and a bill totaling nearly 60 euros, left us feeling that the value for money was lacking. Therefore, I can only give this restaurant two out of five stars. The potential is there, but significant improvements are needed in both service and food quality to justify the price and make the experience worthwhile.
