The staffs were amazing, friendly and helpful. The rooms were extremely clean, centrally located, with breakfast (a small one but nice). You really couldn't ask for more. Very nicely decorated. The linen we're spotless and clean. The little patio area is adorable.

It's more a hostel rather than a hotel. I booked a separate room, but facilities are hostel-style. The free breakfast was tiny but nice. Shared bathrooms are pretty uncomfortable.

This would have to be the worst place that I have stayed at after years of backpacking. I've never encountered such rude staff from beginning to end. When I first arrived at 12pm the hostel there was no one manning the desk, so the cleaners asked the receptionist to come up. She said the rooms were not available till 6, and that she was eating lunch and couldn't help me. What a welcome. I came back later and her manager was there who was a lot nicer, confirmed that a room was ready and checked me in right away. The same staff member who refused to serve me came back with a toasted cheese sandwich- how unprofessional! The hostel is very clean, however is mixed with a youth association, offices, and cafes, so there are no real common areas, so looses hostel vibe. As noted by other guests, no air con at night so rooms get stuffy. Staff seem reluctant to help out with tourism ideas. They don't store maps. I had to figure out what to do myself. The staff at reception did not speak good English and consistently looked unhappy when asked to assist despite the fact that the hostel is empty and there are no guests. While bother working at a hostel if you are going to be rude to guests? What a shame for Portugal, that when people venture off the beaten track to less popular tourist destinations they are met with this sort of welcome. Setubal is a really great spot, I was planning to stay here the whole week, but checked out due to bad attitude from staff at hostel. Hostels in Portugal are normally outstanding, this is my first negative experience, note to management, please get more enthusiastic staff who speak English and can showcase this beautiful country, and keep up with the standards set by the rest of the country.
