Higashiyama Shikikaboku

It’s rare to find a Hotel where the staff are as wonderful as the accommodations. We were so comfortable here it was sad to leave. In some ways, you feel like you are staying with a family that’s there to look after you. I can’t recommend the Higashiyama high enough. The location is a little away from the action, but that means it’s quiet and having a subway stop within a minute wasn’t an issue for us.

An exceptionally friendly hotel. We stayed here for five nights and had a wonderful time. Hotel is very well located - a 10 minute walk along the canals to the Gion district, where many restaurants are based. It’a a short walk to the central area across the river. Also a few steps from a subway station. Room was comfortable and clean. There’s a free drink in the bar each evening and a small roof terrance with good views, where the drinks can be enjoyed. It was my birthday when we stayed there and they brought a complimentary bottle of fizz to the room. A lovely place.

We stayed at hotel hotel Shikikaboku for 5 days and absolutely loved every minute of it. I've stayed at *a lot* of hotels, and this was literally the best experience I've ever had. The hotel, rooms, and onsen are all beautiful and find a perfect balance between traditional and modern Japanese architecture. The location is perfect - right next to the train station and a 5-15 minute walk to pretty much everything notable in Kyoto. Every member of the staff was super nice and attentive. We also got breakfast at the hotel each morning which put a smile on our face every morning we woke up. Thank you so much to the owner, manager, and staff for such an amazing stay! :)
