Stayed here in late July for the USBC Bowling tournament. Very nice hotel, great staff and terrific food. Breakfast buffet was impressive! Want to give Bellman Jerry Lewis a shout out, he was the first and last employee I saw at the hotel on my trip and he has a great attitude and work ethic that I think rubs off on the rest of the staff. Kudos! Chuck B.
Check in is at 3:00 pm, we arrived shortly after, tired from a long trip. We were told our room wasn’t ready. We sat in the lobby for over 1 1/2 hours waiting. Many other people were also waiting for their rooms to be ready. Not a good start. We finally get to the room and it wasn’t what we had seen in the pictures. It was very small. The room we booked (or believed we booked) stated it was an executive room with a balcony, it showed pictures of a sitting area with a couch and plenty of space. The room we got was not that. The pictures showed chairs and a table on the balconies, there were no chairs or tables on any of the balconies. We had breakfast at the restaurant. Our receipt showed $60 dollars for 2 buffets. After checkout we discovered we paid $90. That’s insane for scrambled eggs and average coffee. Based on the information given when we booked the room, we thought our 2 night stay would be around $500 plus the valet parking. At check out it was $800. It showed on the website that the valet parking was in a covered garage. They do have that but our vehicle was not in the covered parking, it was in a parking spot behind the hotel. We could see it from our room. We believed we booked a large comfortable room with a balcony. We got a tiny room and an extremely overpriced breakfast. The room was very hot, the whole balcony side is surrounded by concrete, absorbing sun from noon on, with no shade. We had to keep the curtains closed because the wall of windows made it way too hot to open them at all. Our room was also located near something mechanical, making sleep difficult. We could hear people talking and carrying on, throughout the night, as well. There are many additional fees that are not listed on the booking site/s, hotel fee, city fee and parish fee, along with additional taxes and other fees. We were very disappointed. We have stayed at far less expensive hotels and had better overall experiences.
The rooms were nice but very small which was not an issue, just weird. However no free breakfast or even free coffee is a weird concept to me. Their pool (I did not swim) was just weirdly small given the space they have out there. Nice area with a nice view though. Worst of all, the hotel forces you to valet park and charges $37/day. That is incredibly ridiculous. At $37/ day I expect my car to be pulled up within 5 min as I leave my room with a full wash & detail. But we pulled our car 4 or 5 times and the least time we waited was 20 minutes. The most was 45 minutes. We were almost late for an event because of that terrible 45 min wait. It completely ruined all hope in this hotel having nice amenities. I highly recommend just staying 10 min outside downtown at a cheaper place where you can park yourself for free. Not worth the obscene price.
