A short stay that exceeded expectations I stayed here for one night in February during a short visit to the charming city of Evora, and was pleasantly surprised by how well the hotel delivered across all aspects. The room was modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with a cozy layout that felt comfortable yet efficient. Upon entering, I was greeted by a handwritten welcome note and a small dessert — a simple gesture that instantly made the stay feel warmer and more personal. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was a highlight. The presentation of each dish was elegant, and the flavors matched the visual appeal. I especially appreciated the well-seasoned shrimp salad and the tender meat course, which were both of a much higher standard than I typically expect at a mid-range hotel. The breakfast area was bright and spacious, offering a good variety of fresh options, and the staff was attentive despite the morning rush. The lounge and bar area had a sleek design and would be ideal for business travelers or solo guests winding down after a day out. Overall, Hilton Garden Inn Evora struck a fine balance between international consistency and local warmth. For anyone passing through Évora, whether for a night or two, this hotel offers a restful and tasteful experience that’s well worth considering.

The room is pretty, but the shower / bathroom js quite uncomfortable. To exit the shower you have to enter the main room, which can be awkward when traveling with family/friends. The pool is small and quite shallow, reaching me just about around the waist. There is also very little space on the rooftop in terms of sunbeds, compared to the size of the hotel. Additionally, the bar is expensive.

Great Location, But Severely Let Down by Service and Hygiene Our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Evora was a mixed experience, where the excellent physical aspects of the hotel were completely overshadowed by significant operational failures. Let's start with the positives. The hotel's location is undeniably one of its strongest assets. Situated just outside the historic city walls, it’s a perfect base for exploring the incredible sights of Evora on foot. We could easily walk to the Chapel of Bones, the Roman Temple, and the city’s charming squares without needing a car. The room itself was also a highlight – it was modern, clean, and comfortable, with the quality bed and amenities one would expect from the Hilton brand. Unfortunately, the positives end there. The problems began with parking. Upon arrival, we were directed to the paid underground parking and charged a daily fee. It was only later that we discovered there was ample free parking available right at the hotel's entrance. The staff never mentioned this option, which felt like a deliberate omission to secure extra fees. It was a frustrating and unwelcoming start to our stay. The disappointments continued when we planned to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. After a long day of sightseeing, we were looking forward to a convenient meal, only to be told the entire restaurant was block-booked for a private tour group. This is understandable, but the complete lack of communication was not. We were not informed of this at check-in, leaving us scrambling to find alternative dinner plans at the last minute. A simple heads-up upon arrival would have made all the difference. However, the most shocking failure was the breakfast. The breakfast area was utterly infested with flies. They were swarming everywhere, landing on utensils, tables, and the food itself. To make a bad situation worse, the vast majority of the food items, from pastries and fruit to cheeses and cold cuts, were left completely uncovered, making them a playground for the insects. It was unhygienic and frankly disgusting. We couldn't bring ourselves to eat much, and it fell far below any acceptable standard of food safety, let alone the standard expected of a Hilton hotel. In summary, while the Hilton Garden Inn Evora has the foundation of a great hotel with its prime location and comfortable rooms, it is critically let down by poor staff communication and an alarming lack of basic hygiene at breakfast. The wonderful potential is squandered by these significant service gaps. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this hotel.
