Hilton Guatemala City

Had an amazing stay at Hilton Guatemala City! I feel like this hotel has gotten a decent amount of hate, and while it is true that the hotel is a bit older, there is a sort of historic, rustic sense to it that goes along with the colonial style of the building. Rooms were large, with very comfortable beds and the bathroom was quite enjoyable as well. The front desk folks were really nice, and they do speak English so that's a plus and very helpful if you don't know much Spanish. As for the hotels location, yes it is a bit further away from the city center, but not ridiculously so. It is easy to request an Uber from here and tour companies will also pick you up from this location.

My recent experience at the Hilton Guatemala City was somewhat disappointing. My company booked the hotel through a discounted rate, and I arrived at 10 AM, well before the standard check-in time of 3 PM. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to utilize my Diamond status, and the staff's service was quite mediocre. I expected a bit more courtesy and flexibility given my status with Hilton as a diamond member, especially since I had to wait until 1 PM for my room, even though the official check-in time is 3 PM. I believe they could have been more accommodating under the circumstances. The hotel itself is beautiful, and I have no complaints about its appearance. However, the location is less than ideal. It’s situated in a somewhat remote area with nothing nearby within walking distance, which means you'll need a car or rely on taxi services. Additionally, it's located along a major highway with heavy traffic, making transportation a bit of a hassle. Overall, I have requested my company not to book this hotel for me again. While the property is visually appealing, the rooms are somewhat dated, and the service and location left much to be desired.

Not Hilton quality at all. Bad location — far from everything and feels unsafe. Hotel is old, dirty, and poorly maintained. Concierge recommended “just go to the mall” instead of real help. Asked for a tour and couldn’t trust the person they connected us with — very sketchy. Food was awful. This hotel damages the Hilton name. Avoid.
