Hilton Lake Taupo

We had a wonderful stay at the Hilton Lake Taupo! The staff was so helpful and wanted to make sure our stay was top notch. When we arrived, we found out that we had been upgraded ! We had a beautiful suite on the top floor with a stunning view of the forest. Our family loved the pool!!! One of the best pools we have ever had in our many travels. The main pool was huge and warm!!! We had a lovely swim one night while it was raining!! The next day we enjoyed the rock pool, which was perfect for the kids. Finally the hot tub was clean and large and very enjoyable. Grounds are very pretty and well maintained. There are many fun things to do around Lake Taupo. We will definitely come back if we have an opportunity, and we will stay at this beautiful Hilton. Cheers!

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Lake Taupo for two nights and were very happy with our stay. The hotel has an older, historical section and a newer section. Our room was in the newer section, and was very nice. We were on the first floor and had a patio, which was surrounded by hedges, which gave us privacy when we sat out there. The other floors had balconies, which were separated by partitions for privacy. The hotel is located within a ten-minute drive of the beach, restaurants and shopping, and also has a restaurant on site. There are also tennis courts on site. There is secure parking in an underground parking lot for $25 per day, or you can park below the hotel in a gravel parking lot. We chose to park in the unsecured gravel parking lot (which has a sidewalk leading up to the hotel) and had no problems. Our room was very nice with a king-size bed, a large bathroom, and a small refrigerator. The bed was quite comfortable, and Hilton has the BEST pillows of any hotels in which we have ever stayed. We would definitely recommend the Hilton Lake Taupo if you plan to visit Lake Taupo!

The service from Concierge and Room service staff was repeatedly substandard. Many times I called room service, to eventually be told by reception and then room service after they called me back, “oops, we had the phone on mute.” Other times when I called and wasn’t answered, I was then told, “oh we were a bit busy.” Yet the hotel is quiet. Staff on reception were not friendly. The room did not have any slippers as expected. House keeping were kind and friendly, but advised the hotel had not hot chocolate, even though our room was supposed to be fully stocked with hot drink making facilities. Bathroom grout was old and grotty. Heating was great, as were in room laundry facilities and the pool. The gym was missing a lot of basic equipment. For what we paid, we would have expected better service from hotel staff
