Wonderful hotel with excellent staff. The location is great and just a short walk from Hyde park. There are some nice restaurants and plenty of shops nearby including a waitrose just opposite. Rooms were very clean and well maintained as was the rest of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The bar was nice a relaxed and served nice food (burgers, fish and chips etc). Room service was quick and hassle free. Will definitely stay here again.
This hotel has become a bit of a staple for my visits to London. Nothing too high end in comparison to a lot of the hotels in London and it really could do with a bit of a make over in the communal areas. In general, it’s conveniently located less than a stones throw from the overground, central line underground stations and the Westfield shopping centre. Really easy to find with pleasant staff. I have stayed here multiple times for business, with family, friends and for getaways and have never had a bad experience. The breakfast always has a great selection and always of really good quality. The rooms are spacious and comfortable for the value that you pay. Talking of value, it’s rare that find this hotel trying to compete with other Hilton’s in and around London. It knows what it is and prices accordingly without overcharging guests. As a whole, I’m an advocate for this hotel despite it looking a bit tiresome (my only reason for a 4 star).
A very tired hotel with lots of staff who are not greatly trained. You enter the the hotel to a concierge and large reception where the staff are overly friendly but probably catering to the largely American clientele. Check in was smooth and I had requested a room away from the lifts which the lady kindly agreed she would give me a lovely room only to find it was right by the lifts. Breakfast is good, lots of variety and very tasty. Be warned - the bar although very comfortable, you have to order at the bar and take your drinks with you. I never saw table service once except if they bring you food. On the third drink, walking to the bar, I was presented a receipt with shock to see they are automatically putting 12.5% service charge on every bill! Automatically! They also have a section for a tip! This is extremely underhand and unprofessional and when I raised it with the bar manager he got very flustered, offered me a free drink, when I refused he took off the 12.5% but did admit it was automatically added to all bills and it was up to us as the customer to remove it. I am all good for paying a service charge if there is a service but to pay them to pour my drink and I then have to collect it! Absurd!
