Rooms are very dated really needing upgraded. Shower very wobbly and I was worried it would fall off. Electrics need looked at kept getting electric shocks from sockets. Air conditioning very noisy but had to keep on due to heat, room was so hot had to request a fan. But on the other hand, staff very helpful. Quick check in, restaurant was bright and clean. Breakfast self service ranging from continental, full English or something small like toast/cereal. Even had porridge for us Scots. Again staff in restaurant very helpful and kind. Lifts were small so unsure if a wheelchair would fit in them. Room for two adults and two large cases. Hotel is like a maze so advise you check out maps at exit of lifts to find quickest way to your room. Reasonably priced and within reach of a selection of bus routes and 5 minute walk to rail station. Would go again but take a hand fan for bedrooms.
We had a shaky start with the customer service supervisor not treating us as paying customers. He placed us in a handicap room and never told us why or offer us help with our bags even though they were store in their holding room. I had to returned to the desk and the manager fixed the issue and gave a regular room and apologized along with another customer service lady that sent a staff to help us moved our bags to the new room. After that we the staff at the hotel and restaurant to caring pleasant.
The hotel was in a great location for us and it was handy to have parking onsite. All staff we spoke to were polite, helpful, and professional. The room (premium king) was clean, spacious, and the air conditioning was a welcome relief on a very hot weekend. I've given the hotel 3 stars for a few reasons: -the rooms, although clean, are looking worn and dated. A refresh would bring this up to the price range and standard I would expect from Hilton. -related to this, the bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows went flat the instant we put our heads on them. The mattress felt old and sagging. A bed refresh is very much needed. -the shower screen is oddly small, so water goes everywhere. -the breakfast was disappointingly awful. We ate at 8:30am on a Sunday and everything in the cooked buffet area was cold. The bacon was tough and leathery, the scrambled eggs sat in a pool of water, and nothing looked or tasted fresh. It was also very messy, even though it wasn't particularly busy and there were plenty of staff around. I was surprised by this because many reviews raved about the breakfast. I wouldn't have paid £17pp had I known it would be this bad. Hopefully this was just an off day.
