Honestly this is not a 5 star hotel, at least not by US standards. So if you book it thinking it will be ultra luxurious you will be disappointed. That being said it is a nice hotel in Nicaragua. The room was clean and the housekeepking staff was great. However, it is outdated and needs renovations. Especially in the bathroom where the faucet has water build up and does not really spray water very well. Also, the water goes from hot to cold constantly while showering. One day they were filling the pool and the water in the shower was down to a trickle. The air conditioning doesn't seem to change temperature and the room was pretty chilly. However it was welcoming at times when it was hot outside. We did enjoy the food for breakfast/dinner and the bar drinks were great. Especially the Nica Libre which is Flor de Cana and Coke and the Sangria. I didn't eat dinner at the restaurant, just the bar and the bar staff was wonderful. We did have an issue with the front desk because my husband booked the reservation and was unable to travel so my sister stayed with me so that I wouldn't be alone in a foreign country I am unfamiliar with. He added me as an additional guest and everything was great at check-in. We were told since we had an executive room that we would get breakfast and complimentary evening reception. On our fourth day there the waitress questioned us and made us go talk to the front desk staff which told us that since my husband wasn't there that only I could get the executive benefits and not my sister. I explained what we were told at reception and the young man at the front desk disagreed and said if I didn't pay that he would be responsible to pay, which if this is true it's a terrible image for Hilton. I asked to speak to the manager and the person they brought me continued to renege on what was initially promised to us. He said he would print out the Hilton policies for me and by that point it was just so upsetting and embarrassing to be questioned in this manner so I just paid the $15. (Yes, it was only $15 that was being questioned.) The following evening I went to the evening reception by myself since I was told that I could still receive the executive benefits for myself and the young lady pulled up her list of guests which apparently had a note that I could not receive complimentary benefits. She was very gracious and attentive so I don't fault her for doing what she's told. I also found out that the person I talked to was in fact not the manager which is even more upsetting. The whole experience definitely made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I was looking forward to check out and will definitely not be staying here again.
Not sure why this is labeled “5 star” hotel. The hotel is out dated and dirty. The location is really bad for taxis also you have to walk to the main road which is dangerous. There are lots of local hotels they are way better. The pool had small trash and bugs all in it. It is a place to have a good sleep though as the town is extremely loud and being higher up with the concrete wall will help.
No complimentary water in the rooms. Not a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The front desk are untrained unmotivated amateurs. Rooms are old and musty due to no windows. Old showerheads barely output any water. These owners have obviously not invested in this old skinny cow for decades. The only saving grace is the food and staff at the restaurant who really make an effort. Everything else is below standards. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
