What a luxurious and beautiful hotel! Even my bodyguard, who frequently stays at Hilton hotels, said this one stands out as exceptionally wonderful. The bar on the first floor is open until 11 PM, and breakfast starts at 6:30 AM. They also had a lovely pool. Unfortunately, we were just passing through on a road trip, so we didn't get to enjoy much, but if we ever go to St. Louis again, we'll definitely stay here. The front desk staff were very kind and gave us two bottles of water, and there were already two in the room. Being able to make coffee in the room too made it a truly perfect stay.
This is the kind of place that I would go out of my way in order to stay again. Stayed here based on rating alone and was simply expecting a typical hotel stay and experience... but wow was blown away. Arrived super late and had to leave super early. Wish we could have stayed longer. Staff we encountered on our stay (front desk and restaurant) were exceptional. Had the feel of a nice hotel of days gone by, before cookie cutter hotels, but didn't feel dated. Just a unique, quiet, clean, pleasant experience.
This hotel was in a very convenient location for our short trip to St Louis. The neighborhood was very quiet and seemed safe. Service was friendly and attentive. The room was a decent size. The main issue was mold and musty smell in the room, which was also somewhat noticeable in other areas of the hotel. I initially chalked up the musty smells to the hotel being on the older side and the fact that AC needs to work hard for much of the year to keep the place cool. Heavily AC using locations sometimes have that musty smell. It wasn't until we were just about checked out that I noticed visible mold in the closet. It also looked like there were previous attempts to clean this. I know from personal experience that it can almost impossible to fully remediate mold, especially if underlying moisture issues aren't addressed. There was evidence that the environment was on the moist side as the fire sprinkler outlets in the ceiling were very rusty. If you are sensitive to mold, you might want to take that into consideration before staying here.
