We recently stayed at Hilton Resort Tulum and had an overall good experience, though there were several areas that could use improvement. Check-in didn’t go smoothly—we were told our room would be ready by 3 PM, but we didn’t get in until 4 PM. The resort did try to make up for the delay by giving us a “Cabana” voucher and upgrading us to a sea view room, but honestly, the view wasn’t impressive or worth the hype. The food was okay overall, but the Seaside Grill stood out as the best spot by far. Be prepared to make reservations for nearly everything, which became a bit annoying during our stay. We were also disappointed by the pool temperatures—they were very warm, which isn’t ideal in the middle of summer when you’re hoping to cool off. Getting around the property was another pain point. You rely on golf carts to get between your room and the lobby/restaurants, and wait times could be long, especially during busy times of day. The beach area is small and rocky, not ideal for swimming or relaxing on the sand. As for nightlife, there were short nightly events (30–45 minutes), but not much else to do in the evenings—no pool tables, game rooms, or late-night hangouts. The Conrad Spa, however, was incredible and easily the highlight of our trip. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and made the stay feel worthwhile. Overall, Hilton Tulum is a gorgeous property and a good choice for a calm, spa-focused escape—but if you're looking for better service, cooler pools, or more to do at night, this may not be the right fit.
The staff was friendly, and our room was clean but other than that I am not sure I’d recommend this hotel to anyone. The seaside grill tacos are worth getting every day for lunch, but service is pretty slow. It was disappointing that their beer selection was so minimal and the highest alcohol content was maybe 4%. All of the drinks seemed watered down IMO. It is very annoying to have to make all of your dinner reservations the moment you check in, and when we were speaking to the concierge it was either 5pm or 9pm at most restaurants. The Asian restaurant is worth going to. The app they have a qr code never worked for me, and it’s not because I am not tech savvy- no one at the hotel could figure it out for me. (So I couldn’t see or make my reservations) The hotel is pretty spread out- so if you are staying here request casa 2 or 3. There’s a shuttle service, but it probably faster to walk. I didn’t mind the extra steps, but someone else may not. The workout area is nice, but the water station was broken during our stay. And they ran out of water bottles quickly. I find it funny you have to pay to reserve a cabana considering when we stayed the resort was relatively “dead” There is one adults only area, but kids are everywhere (and we are child-less) so would have preferred an adults only resort. Raccoons are all over at night going thru trash bins. Iguana/lizards roam freely which is cool. SO MUCH SEAWEED. They had crews outs trying to clean it up, but the beaches were covered in it.
Disappointing Stay – Definitely Not What We Expected We were really looking forward to a relaxing and enjoyable vacation, but unfortunately, this resort fell far short of our expectations. The biggest letdown was the food — it was honestly one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had at any resort. Most of the dishes were bland and lacked real flavor. Even the desserts and ice cream, which looked appealing, had no taste. The coffee was also undrinkable. Service overall was very inconsistent. While some of the waiters were genuinely kind and helpful, many of the staff seemed uninterested and unwelcoming, which made the atmosphere feel cold and uninviting. The resort itself was also underwhelming. There were very few activities, and the entertainment was nearly nonexistent. We were hoping for a lively, engaging experience — but it was the opposite. It felt dull and uneventful. To top it off, the resort is seriously overpriced. The quality of food, service, and amenities does not reflect the rates they charge. We expected a luxury experience but received something far below that standard. What was meant to be a memorable and relaxing trip ended up being a disappointing experience. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t recommend this resort — it’s simply not worth what you pay.
