Great location, probably one of the best located hotels in town. Two blocks off the mall, near several of the best Smithsonian institutions, and about two blocks from the wharf. The rooms were about average as far as size and mine only looked out on the HUD building, but they were clean and well made up. The variety of restaurants in the plaza below the building is handy (at least when they're open) and the indoor link to the metro was great as well. The staff are excellent for both general hotel stuff and for conferences. I would definitely come back here.
It was a very busy hotel. Lots of stuff and people. The check-in staff was professional, but not terribly friendly - just professional. The rooms are big and nice. The cleaners were very nice and good at their job. It is right next to the spy museum, if that is your thing, but not too close to much else on a DC bucket list - we walked a lot, but other hotels are closer. It is above the tunnels, which will have whatever food you want to eat. Do not spend the money on the breakfast (unless you get it free for being a diamond member and are traveling alone. The $36 credit will only cover part of it), McDonald's is better, more filling and cheaper. The valet was great, but be careful about the size of your vehicle. A jacked-up truck is not going to work. Six-foot garage entry.
Walked into the hotel and thought this place was great. Got in the elevator to go to our room. Got off and the hallways were filthy. Get to our room and its dirty. Both mirrors in the room had smudges all over them. Fridge did not work. Faucet sink barely turned off. Glass shelf were the water sat was so dusty. Beds are frumpy. TV did not work well like other reviews said. We ended up cutting our stay 1 day short due to the crappy rooms. The staff were nice and liked that everything was close. Will not come back.
