Very sophisticated hotel in a great location. Sadly we didn’t stay here but we went for an afternoon drink to bask in the glorious sunshine. My kids looked longingly at the outdoor pool which did look very nice! Unfortunately I don’t think my kids are well behaved enough for me to properly relax at this hotel - there’s definitely an air of “children should be seen but not heard” which is perfectly fine by me. It just means next time I shall have to leave them behind to enjoy my drink more!
The Hochfirst is a well-run hotel. The service and food are absolutely first class, and the spa is modern and clean. The Skiroom is well organized and very useful and you can walk straight to a lift that takes you to the slopes. I gave the room four stars because it was overheated and wasn’t possible to cool down without having the window open, and there can be some road noise as the hotel is on the main thoroughfare. Also, the gym is extremely subpar, very small with dated and incomplete equipment. Lastly, although the hotel is ski-in and ski-out, the Hochgurgl ski area is larger than the Obergurgl area thus you’ll lose time taking the gondola across the valley to Hochgurgl. Thus if you are on a short trip, staying in Hochgurgl makes more sense. But o verall, the resort has a huge gondola density which means we never waited for a lift despite being there in a German holiday week. Despite these small shortcomings, I’d still highly recommend the hotel for its cuisine and service and would gladly return.
Here’s your review translated into English with a professional and well-structured tone: The rooms are basic, with uncomfortable pillows and blankets. Housekeeping often forgets to provide towels and other essentials. The food is terrible. To reach the ski lift, you have to walk about 150 meters carrying your skis. The sauna and swimming pool close at 7:00 PM, which is quite early. While I was in the sauna, a hotel staff member entered at 6:55 PM, informed me that it was closing, left the door open, and turned off the sauna despite me still being inside. In the restaurant, despite the already limited selection and poor quality of food, the salad bar was cleared away at 8:45 PM. At €900 per night for accommodation and meals, the service and experience are far below expectations. Definitely not worth the price.
