Hochwälder Wohlfühlhotel

Interesting experience in staying in Germany. Nice spot for enjoying the early Spring but still low temperature with little bit of snow now. ❄️ 😜

A big clean room with a very nice bathroom. Breakfast is decent. The staff is helpful and friendly.

Not as pet friendly, as it may be advertised. My husband and I stayed there over the weekend. We had a small Maltese dog with us. We booked a lake view room, which is already 60 euros more expensive than a standard room overlooking a parking lot. We were told that “dog section” of the rooms is only on the ground floor with the view on the construction side or trees (still “lake view”). We could have paid 15€ per day for the dog staying on the ground floor. To stay on the 1st or 2nd floor we had to pay 40€ per day for the dog. It seems a bit excessive. There was absolutely nothing included in this price, such as dog poop bags, bowls, treats, dog bed, which we normally receive from other 4 and 5 star hotels for much less. On top of that, dogs are not allowed in the breakfast area, so we had to eat breakfast near reception and do multiple trips to get food, cutlery, drinks ourselves. It has never happened to us in another hotels. I understand that dogs cannot approach the buffet, but why cannot they stay by the table? Most restaurants nowadays allow dogs inside. The breakfast was good, but the variety was very limited. Crossaints were the only pastry and they were at least one day old. There is unfortunately no fridge in the room to store anything. There is also no phone in the room to call reception. You can only get one working card for the room. We requested another, but it kept deactivating. The location of the hotel is very quiet and nice. You can do a 4km walk around the lake. There is a decent brewery nearby, to get some lunch or dinner. The Spa area is quite nice, but you need to request robes at the reception. There are no lockers to leave your things or change in there. To sum up: Pros: - Relaxing Spa - Quiet location - Friendly and helpful staff - Clean and spacious rooms - Nice lake view from 1st or 2nd floor Cons: - 40€ per day for the dog (nothing included) - Dogs are not allowed in the breakfast area - No fridge or phone in the room - Early check out at 11.00 AM - No partition on the 1st floor balcony, you can see other guests and they can see inside your room - Only 1 working keycard to access the room The quality-price ratio could be improved. It’s too expensive for what it is, especially if you travel with a pet.
