Holiday Inn Chengdu Century City West Tower

There are two holidays in this area. Holiday inn Chengdu west tower is little older one than east tower. It looks modern at first glance but inside is old. The hotel is under renovation now ( 2018. 10 ). Bathroom is little small. The hotel is directly connected to the intercontinental century city (convention center) on the third floor, so if you have a meeting there, it is very convenient. The hotel is close to Lotte department store. The taxi fee to airport was different from time to time; on the midnight airport to the hotel took about 25 yuan, on 6 am, hotel to airport took 60 yuan. There are airport shuttle buses that connect from airport to the hotel; shuttle No. 4 . The taxi fee to "panda basement for birthing" costs 80 yuan. The taxi fee to "Hakka residence" is about 110 yuan

Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are ok. Not all that clean, but ok. Beds ok. Standard room is not very spaceous. Great shower with plenty of water. Good wifi connection. No Google, cencored Whatsapp and other social media. Wired internet connection available and good. Central in a very rich part of Chengdu. Subway line 1 at 10 minutes walk. Neighbour Intercontinental hotel has a very good international buffet with drinks, wine and beer included at about 40 Euros. Very welcome in a city where the very, very spicy Sichuan kitchen rules.

This was unfortunately one of my worst hotel experiences. The air conditioning barely worked during both day and night, making the room very uncomfortable. While the staff tried to make it seem like it was an isolated issue, it was clear that other parts of the hotel had similar problems. On top of that, the food quality was poor and didn’t meet basic expectations. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.
