I didn't know what to expect when I booked my 10 day stay, however, All of the staff was great. The breakfast was great, many options. I declined housekeeping as I didn't feel it was necessary; but I staff made sure I was stocked on toiletries. The front desk clerk even told me to download and use GRAB, because she learned I was spending 3x the amount on taxis. I would definitely stay here again. Here's what I ate. I don't like heavy breakfast, but there's was plenty options. FYI.
While this is a newly built property, our positive experience ended just after entering the lobby area. Our overall experience with this property was not positive especially with the customer service part. The room assigned to us at check-in was of compact size, decent enough for two people, had a compact size bed and was good enough for our stay. However, since we had to stay here for 5 nights, we went down to front desk to check any alternate available options primarily for better views through the window. They gave us a key to go check another room which turned out to be a tiny, matchbox size with lesser amenities. Not sure why a hotel would even offer their customer an option of smaller room, which is kind of downgrading your room. That was very surprising! However, more than that it was the front desk staff’s attitude that appalled me the most. During our discussion while my wife was talking to the front desk on room options and if they could move us to another room later if any becomes available (a discussion around our options), the staff kept a very straight face and almost sounded rude. It was surprising for a front desk to behave as if they were doing us a favor by assigning a room that WE paid for. Having visited Thailand several times and staying at many properties, this was first of a kind experience for us. Housekeeping: The housekeeping of our room seemed like a to-do job for the staff. The bathroom and room had slight dust on some items, that dust remained throughout the 5-night stay. The coffee cup wasn’t cleaned every day and we had to clean them ourselves sometime. Breakfast: The restaurant has a decent size restaurant with a small breakfast buffet area. Some staff seemed clearly untrained. While collecting utensils from other tables, they were making so much noise with the utensils. Food was decent, though nothing in particular to highlight from restaurant. Overall, not a positive experience with Holiday Inn Express Central Pier property. For us, it’s the people of the property that makes the difference in guest experience, more than the property. I have stayed at a few other Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties in Bangkok, Pattaya and other countries and considering my overall experience with the Holiday Inn brand chose this property, however can’t recommend this one based on our experience. There are better options available within Sathorn and in Bangkok
Small room, crowded breakfast area so food is empty, lobby is small too many loud Chinese tourist, smallest pool in Bangkok. There’s too many bugs. It’s too loud because highway and motorcycles. Food taste bad. No elevator or no escalator for transportation. Dangerous if you have luggage because no space for taxi. Road is very narrow so can get hit by car. Price is expensive for bad location and no view. Never come back. Go to cheaper hotel in city center. Better view.
