Holiday Inn Express Chengdu Gulou

Easily one of the best Holiday Inn Express hotels I've stayed in anywhere. A number of things stood out to me: the breakfast was really very good (including plenty of options for vegetarians) - the cuisine leans Chinese, but there are some Western options as well; the FREE laundry room is amazing - with commercial-style washers and dryers that include soap automatically and did a great job of cleaning my travel-weary clothes; and the helpful staff who, even with limited English, were always kind and even helped me check in a few hours early due to my morning arrival. The location is also not far from IFS mall and other attractions. Around the corner is a great foot massage shop, too! I would be very happy to stay here again on a future Chengdu trip!

Standards Holiday Inn near the airport. Which is perfect when you arrive into the city late. The room is a bit small, but moderate clean. Breakfast is included, but the breakfast line is very localized Chinese which limited your choice if you have Western taste for breakfast. Almost all of the staff speak very little to no English, so prepare for it.

We stayed here for two nights. Facilities are nice as the gym was not top notch yet not bare. The issue with rooms are that the showers are slightly transparent and it was a bit awkward when showering with other students. Service was lacking with no greetings or anything. Also didn't fill up water for me when asked many times politely. Overall go if its the only thing for your budget but otherwise go somewhere else.
