Holiday Inn Wakefield – Solid Stay Nice hotel with super friendly staff. I had a small issue with the air conditioning, but it was sorted quickly and without fuss. Breakfast was good, and the rooms are pretty standard – exactly what you’d expect from a Holiday Inn. Nothing standout, but everything done well. Good job overall. Make sure to check out Abdul’s Indian Cuisine. A 5 minute walk from the front door.

On arrival the EV chargers were not yet installed. Also only options to get to reception is either up some stairs (one person in our party had mobility issues) or walk in the road with cars whizzing in and out. The reception staff I found were not the friendliest apart from a male receptionist who was working on Saturday morning (12/04/25). To get to the rooms you have to walk down a flight of stairs with suitcases, again not ideal for our party and there problems with the lift closing and opening before it took us up to our floor. The room was clean but very basic. I could hear every word of my neighbours conversation in the morning and probably he heard mine. A young lady in the bar was lovely and got us ice for our flasks. The decor in the bar and reception is really lovely. Overall a pleasant stay, good value for money but very much a basic 3 star for me.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is quite obviously run down, the towels weren’t clean, followed by the bathroom being dirty. The windows are absolutely tiny in the rooms so if you’re a smoker that SMOKES OUTSIDE ONLY, they will accuse you of smoking in the room due to their lack of ventilation, we was charged £100 for this misunderstanding. We was both so annoyed T the situation but we wasn’t going to give them the reaction they was quite clearly wanting. We both drink coffee regularly but the kettle was that disgusting we couldn’t. And the staff all act as if they hate their jobs. For the type of service they are offering here, they need to consider putting their prices down. Would rather sleep in a tent tbh.. (a tent would probably have more ventilation than the box rooms they provide you with)
