This Holiday Inn in Puebla is a solid hotel with ample rooms and a great breakfast. Located on the very busy Federal Highway that cuts straight through the northern side of Puebla, the hotel manages to provide a quiet stay. Despite being next to the busy motorway, my room was so well-insulated that I could barely hear any noise from outside, which was great. The check-in process was friendly but a little slow. I had booked a king room on the top floor, and the size was very generous. The room was decent, solid, and comfy. The bathroom, although spacious, could use a bit of a remodel as it looked just a tad dated. However, bonus points for the waterfall shower, which was lovely after a day out. Two small water bottles were provided in my room. The breakfast that I paid for through the hotel booking was excellent, featuring a buffet and an omelette bar. The check-out process was also a bit slow, even though I had paid the night before, but I still appreciated the nice and friendly service I received at this hotel.
They offer underground secure parking however our vehicle was beyond the height of the entrance due to the fact that we had a storage box on top. The hotel allowed us to park right in front on the main level between the road and the lobby entrance where there are about 3 parking spaces. The watchman put the chain up behind our car. Staff were so friendly and helpful! We had a large round granite walled shower with rain shower that my husband really appreciated after many hours of roadtripping. My kids always enjoy the hotel breakfasts. This one had a fantastic assortment including multi colored jello which make them happy. The rooms are so spacious I felt like we were living in an apartment. I booked the volcano view room but I would only advise to book it if on the day you arrive the skies are clear enough to view it otherwise its mostly foggy and covered at a distance. The windows are wide and unobstructive of the city views. It was right off a main highway which made it easy to arrive and depart the following day.
1 star fully based on the service…. zero effort from restaurant staff at all. They come to your table 5 times to push you to order meanwhile we are just trying to read the menu. They serve oxxo bottled drinks for $10 US. No offer for a cold glass of water complimentary… feels like you are at a fast food restaurant. The staff is pushy to carry your luggage but they don’t handle with care and they have scratched our luggage. The rooms are spacious which is the only positive thing.
