Holiday Inn Shaoguan Downtown by IHG

Good experience with nice and spacious room, relatively modern renovation. Features a swimming pool and breakfast buffet. Breakfast had a wide spread with many options to choose from across different cuisines. However swimming pool was like a “public pool.” It was open to other people and was rather busy. Good location with a shopping mall to visit nearby.

Pretty good hotel with new and clean facilities. The hotel is located right next time the biggest and modernest mall in the city which scheduled to open within 2019. But if you wish to travel to old city, it may take up to 20 mins drive. Room service is quick and cheap. Room is tidy and big enough.

I checked in the hotel on Nov 29/2023, room 708. I have hanged the “Do not disturb “ plate at the door before I went out in the morning on Nov 30. From what I understand, this is to inform the service people not to clean my room. My reason is I have placed a cover on my bed and do not want their service department to move anything in my room, as I only stay there for two nights. I do not need them to clean my room. Unfortunately, besides cleaning up the washroom (which I accept), they moved the cover I placed on my bed as well as my pillow. I only brought one cover for my trip, how can I be sure they are still clean after it was being touch by other hands!! This was completely unprofessional, no matter how well the other services were, this gives me a bad image on this hotel. Hope they trained their staff to be more careful on reading instructions from the clients and not doing their job like routine.
