Hollywood Hills Upscale

If you're a movie fan, you must stay a night in this oldie but a goodie hotel. I can't even begin to describe how great the staff was to me and my family. It's at the center of all things to do on Hollywood Boulevard. We had five people stay in our room, and they brought a roll-out bed for the extra person for a small fee. Oh, and the bathtub you could swim laps in. We will come back to this place. One more thing: If you're looking for a great tour, talk to Nick the Concierge and ask for a private SUV tour. It $125.00 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours, based only on car use, not how many people are in your group. It's worth the money compared to the other tours up and down Hollywood Boulevard, where it $95.00 per person, and you ride in a 16-passenger van that does not stop. We had a blast. The driver Enrique from Black Wolves Limousine service was the best! Riding in a clean, air-conditioned suburban was worth the money to me.

This is a great historic hotel. They went out of the way to keep us up to date! For example, the day one elevator was being maintained they told us all that we could also use the service elevator. However, on the last day they had a penthouse event and they reserved an elevator for that. Why not add the service elevator? Also the spare room had no hostess but yet we were asked to leave our table because suddenly there was a hostess and reservations. Huh? The library bar on the other hand was an outstanding experience!!!

Great old hotel that has charm but doesn't feel too dated. Loved the lobby! Everyone single employee we talked to was helpful and kind. Valet parking was easy and convenient. Room was super quiet and clean. Housekeeping was very attentive. My only complaint and this is probably because I'm an east coaster was the pool "scene". Reserving chairs, not enough space, etc. My 14 year definitely didn't want to hang put or feel comfortable swimming. They have a cafe area at one end that would be great for some more pool chairs even though its not right next to the pool. One other thing is the elevator situation! They were super apologetic about it though. They only had one elevator running because of maintenance. We were on the 11th floor...
