Hon Chong Retreat Hotel

This hotel has been renamed! The hotel is not 4 stars. The corridors are covered with old dirty carpets with terrible stains! the rooms stink! The smell of mold is everywhere, from mattresses, walls, in the bathroom. feet stick to the floor in the room from dirt. The towels are badly worn. Hot water either there or not. Ants live in a teapot, although ants are everywhere. The only thing left of the old hotel is the view from the window.

Be aware: this hotel has been rebranded to “Fortune” and it is no way a 4 star hotel anymore. After Covid many hotels in Vietnam were sold for very low amounts and this one is no exception. The hotel is saving every penny: hallways aren’t taken care of, our floor smelt like petrol and cigarettes. The swimming pool isn’t at its best and it is left in the dark past sunset - no lights on a rooftop. Somebody was actually drying cabbage leaves next to the pool lol Gym - gone, equipment has been ripped off the walls. Staff - doesn’t speak in English or Russian, Google translate is your best option. We were also told that there are no breakfast available at the hotel. Oh, and there is no hot water, only slightly warm, prepare to win hof. And the fridge is warm. Positives: fairly clean room, great seaview although limited by two tall buildings on each side, dirty cheap (pun intended). Overall, they have been using the old established Volga Hotel’s profiles on Booking and other platforms, but in reality the hotel is n’t the same.

I came to visit the hotel a few days prior to booking the hotel as I’m a very clean and cautious person. When I went to have a look at it, it was nice clean and comfortable but when I went to check in today, the checkin process alone took 2 hours, they allowed guest to smoke which cause the hotel to have a very bad smell. The room itself was disgusting, toilet wasn’t flushed, bed was dirty although it was freshly made, the door for the front and toilet took a lot of effort to open as it was stuck, the phone to call reception was dirty. The chair provided was very dirty and had stains. I went to check the pool as that was a deal breaker for me and the water of the pool was green and muddy. I had only finished checking in and got the room for about 5-10 minutes before I checked out and left. A worker in the hotel (female with shoulder length hair) was super rude when we asked her what level the poor was she replied in a very disrespectful way even towards the guest. Although the main male receptionist was kind and wanted to know what was wrong with the room. He was the only good thing about the whole experience
