Close to shops and restaurants in Blouberg, beautiful view on Table Mountain, 24h security and underground parking. Perfect for short stays as well as for longer stays.
Amazing apartments however due to all the restaurants, bike clubs/lounges there is alot of noise - 02:00AM - 04:00AM bikers are revving their bikes like stupid idiots, cars are doing donuts and burnouts so it was super difficult to get some undisturbed sleep.
On 1 July 2025, we booked a property through Airbnb that is owned or managed by Home Meets Hotel. Within a week, one of the taps stopped working. We reported it immediately, and although a plumber was eventually sent out, we were later told the repair would cost R6,000 — a highly inflated and suspicious amount, especially considering this was a standard maintenance issue and not caused by us. During our stay, we encountered several other issues, including kitchen-related problems that made it impossible to prepare food. We were forced to cook elsewhere, incurring additional expenses. Instead of offering assistance or taking responsibility, the host treated us with hostility and blame. The situation escalated further when Helen, the owner or co-owner, began falsely accusing us of causing damage: First, she claimed we owed R20,000 for alleged damage. A few days later, she inexplicably increased this amount to R35,000. Most recently, she submitted a false R8,600 claim to Airbnb, seemingly to cancel out our valid refund request of R8,930. In a blatant attempt to fabricate evidence, she even tampered with the toilet paper holder after our departure, attempting to pin the blame on us. Fortunately, we had taken detailed photos at check-out, foreseeing that she might resort to dishonest tactics. This has been a deliberate and coordinated campaign of deception, worsened by the discriminatory treatment we experienced throughout our stay. As a group of four Black men, we were racially profiled, treated with suspicion, and unfairly judged — despite following all house rules and leaving the property in excellent condition. We also discovered that Shedrack Mapondo, who works for Home Meets Hotel, has been posting positive Airbnb reviews for the company. This constitutes a clear conflict of interest and misleads future guests who rely on honest reviews when booking. Despite everything we’ve endured, we are still owed R8,930, and we are now escalating the matter to the Consumer Protector and Public Protector for further investigation and accountability.
