We had the tasting breakfast at Hospes Maricel and it was incredible. Fantastic service from Juanpe and his colleagues, incredible food and an unbeatable location with gorgeous sea views. I don’t usually take photos of my food but the dishes looked (and tasted!) so good that I took a photo of every course.

My godson got married there. It is a beautiful intimate hotel right on the Mediterranean Sea. In fact next to the infinity pool there is a step down ladder that goes right into the Mediterranean Sea! Staff are very friendly and the location is fantastic. Close to restaurants, shops etc but when you are on the property it’s like an oasis.

Our check-in experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, we were informed by the baggage handler that the hotel was closed until 12pm due to a private function and were advised to wait offsite at a nearby bar—hardly a welcoming start especially at 5-Star hotel. To make matters worse, the hotel couldn’t locate our booking for that year and claimed our travel agent had made an error, despite us providing a valid booking reference. While the exterior and pool area are undeniably beautiful, the rooms themselves felt outdated, lacked any sense of luxury, and didn’t reflect the style or charm of the reception area or the building’s heritage. The restaurant was also disappointing—overpriced and lacking in service. Our waiter didn’t even top up our glasses throughout the meal. The gym was far too small, outdated, and poorly equipped for a hotel of this size—a missed opportunity to create something truly impressive.
