A Memorable Stay with One Small Drawback Stayed: June 24–26 Staying at Hotel Adlon Kempinski was truly special. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed — the service was warm, thoughtful, and consistently attentive. We especially enjoyed the cocktails and food; everything was beautifully crafted and delicious. The elegance of the hotel, its history, and its atmosphere made our time in Berlin feel even more meaningful. The only downside was our room. Located on the first floor with a street view, it was unfortunately quite noisy, especially at night. The windows didn’t seal properly, and although the staff kindly tried to help when we mentioned it, the noise was still a challenge. Despite that, the overall experience was exceptional. I would absolutely return — just next time, I’d ask for a quieter room.

Overall, the hotel service was good and most of the staff were polite and professional. However, the lady at the reception who handled my checkout (around 12:00 noon on August 1, 2025) was extremely indifferent and unprofessional. After I had waited for at least 15 minutes, she simply asked for my room number and dismissed me without any proper checkout procedure. She clearly needs professional training in order to perform this role properly.

Come for the luxury, stay for the cultural experience in the spa. The Adlon Kempinski is a very nice hotel—spacious rooms, excellent location, and solid service. It was reconstructed in the late '90s, but still retains a lot of its classic charm. That said… if you're planning to check out the spa, prepare yourself for an education. My wife and I walked down together, thinking we’d enjoy some relaxation. As soon as we stepped into what we thought was the spa reception area—still wearing shoes, like normal humans—we got a very clear look that we had already made our first mistake. That was when my wife, sensing what was about to unfold, wisely left me to face the journey alone. What followed was a crash course in spa protocol: Swimwear in certain areas? Not allowed. Sandals in some zones? Also not allowed. Sitting without a towel under you? Definitely not OK. Attempting to navigate a complicated multi-function shower? A bit of a challenge. The spa attendant was... thorough. He made it his mission to let me know—step by step—what I could and could not do. And while I can appreciate a commitment to order, the constant stream of corrections made the experience feel a bit more like being coached than unwinding. When I fumbled with the futuristic shower setup and asked for help, he even chuckled—not the friendly kind of laugh, but the kind that says, “Wow, you really don’t get how this works, do you?” And for other Americans: just be aware that the spa environment here is very open and shared—co-ed, and everyone’s quite comfortable in that setting. It’s totally normal and accepted here, but it may be unexpected for some visitors. All that aside, the facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the spa itself is quite beautiful. Just make sure to leave your flip-flops, swimsuit, and assumptions at the door. Five stars overall—but I left the steam room more aware of European bathing customs than I ever expected. UPDATE TO REPLY: A demeanor vs laughing at a guest is a bit different. It sounds like you like his behavior. Okie dokie.
