Hotel Airone Isola d'Elba

Spent nine nights in a family room. Quality of hotel was good (similar quality to Novotel), room was recently renovated. Cleaning was always excellent - this is very important - esp when coming back from a beach. All members of staff were friendly and professional, esp. the veteran lifeguard at the pool area. Very easy going and also drove us to our beach excursion. Pool area also very good, esp. important with two younger children. Breakfast had a large variety of different options, very good quality. Perhaps including fish options could be an alternative? Esp. good was the omelette which was prepared by a friendly gentlemen. We had no dinner included - always ate outside. We did do drinks at the pool which offered a beautiful night view. This was our third trip to Elba, first time in a hotel. I can highly recommend this hotel for families planning a stay in Elba. Great quality, good price and the location is great, you have accessibility to most beaches within 20 minutes and inside portoferraio in 5 minutes.

Positive - Clean - Big and beautiful area to chill in - Very fitting for little children: Calm beach, children's pool - Nice and attentive staff Negative - Baby bed costs 15$ each night extra (but on the other hand, breakfast is included) - You'll need a car to get around. Not the best location in that regard.

Let me start by saying that if I could give zero stars, I would. This was the absolute worst stay I’ve ever had in my life. On top of it being extremely hot outside, the temperature in the room would not go down despite the maintenance man “fixing it” 4 times. The wifi didn’t work and we had to use hotspot from a neighbor. We locked the back door and somehow a little girl was able to get into our room. Luckily my husband and I were only talking. Both the front and back door took the both of us to push it for it to fully close. The beach was dirty. Day 2, while we kept the “do not disturb” sign on the front door- a cleaning lady entered through the back door insisting that it was time for her to clean. I tried telling her no thank you, she kept walking further into my room while I was covering myself with a pillow because we had just woken up. She tries to go into the restroom and I tell her my husband is in there. She stands there with me waiting for him to get out to put extra towels and toilet paper. I was absolutely desperate to leave so we ended up finding a different hotel down the road for the rest of our stay. This was the worst part of our honeymoon. We didn't want to waste time fighting with them there so we checked out that morning. I truly am one to stick things out but this was beyond a horrible experience for us.
