I cannot recommend this hotel enough: wonderful family welcome, amazing staff, great rooms, a beautiful pool, the beach only feet away, and some epic cycling. the town is full of life, great food and amazing scenery.
Like any other hotel on this Riviera, Hotel Alexander won't be cheap. However, you will get value for your money. We have visited this place five times in the last decade (the last time in 2014), so something must be pulling us back! I can speak well about the swimming pool, the spacious rooms (not state-of-the-art, but large), the proximity to the beach, but above all... The restaurant! For breakfast, lunch and dinner, I could stuff myself with the most exquisite food I had ever tasted. (Don't exaggerate on the starter buffet, because first and main course will blow your mind!) Then the evenings at the snooker table, with the owners mingling amongst us... It's unusual to see the owners of a big hotel engaging with the guests.
One of the highlights of the hotel was definitely the food — everything was fresh, tasty, and well-prepared. I especially enjoyed the à la carte dinners: everything was delicious, varied, and of a high standard. This is definitely the main advantage of this hotel. However, the accommodation left a mixed impression. The room had what seemed to be updated furniture and beds, but the mattresses were extremely hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. The floor, doors, and bathroom were noticeably outdated, as was the air conditioner, which barely worked and looked very old. The overall condition of the hotel suggests that no major renovation has been done in a long time. In my opinion, the hotel deserves a maximum of 3 stars. Also, the photos on Booking.com look much better than the reality, which added to the disappointment upon arrival. Only one situation was especially unpleasant. After check-out, I asked to leave my car in the parking lot for one more day and the owner initially allowed it without any problem. But the next morning, she called me and aggressively demanded that I remove the car immediately. Her tone was extremely rude and inappropriate, which left a very negative impression — especially considering that the parking lot was half empty, and I had spent over €3000 during my eight-day stay at the hotel. Unfortunately, despite the great food, due to the general condition of the hotel and the unacceptable attitude towards guests, I will not be returning. Everything except the food left a bitter impression.
