Hotel Almasur Express Punta Arenas

Awesome hotel! Great vibes and delicious food and drink! It's almost like a fancy hostel feel with everyone being so nice and locals in the bar and restaurant. We were surprised with how good the food is!! Big ups to the restaurant and bar staff. Having said that there at two issues and it's partly due to the popularity of the hotel/restaurant. Number one is parking the lot filled up quickly and even street parking was limited. There is a drop off spot but with the expansion it's a little confusing. The other issue is CHANGE it seems to be a cultural thing no one has change in the mornings. We wanted to leave tips but had to go all over town and wait till afternoon to get change anywhere but the bank. Recommendation to the hotel: give your front desk a petty cash stash! I worked as a bellman in the US and tried to always have $100 in change as well as our front desk being stocked with small bills. Please provide change to your guests even if it's not normal here it will be appreciated by your foreign guests. Still five stars but there's always room for improvement. Liked the hotel as a stop over but would probably choose another option for a long stay.

We stayed here two nights, one before our trip to Torres Del Paine and one after (we stayed in Puerto Natales on the night between). The rooms were great, we booked the triple room. The beds were comfy, the room stayed warm, the bathroom was good. Parking is a bit tight at the hotel. It is located in a good area, close to lots of things.

There is nothing good to point out about this hotel. My wife and I stayed here three nights. Upon checking in, we were faced with The reception staff who was obsessed with getting our passports and was not welcoming at all. We had two reservations. The first night we were in a queen bed room- it was so small we could not move in the room. The bathroom was so small with a tiniest sink- so tiny that we couldn’t even wash our hands and face. Getting to the room, you had to pass a hallway and clime five stairs with our luggage. Second and third night we stayed in a king bed room and that too was not any better. Most importantly , the breakfast was just awe full. They cannot even make the simplest food - scrambled eggs. It was like soup than anything else. The coffee was hot brown water and …. Overall, I do not recommend this hotel.
