Hotel Alpenaussicht

This is a fabulous well run family hotel, good food selection every day, nice chill out bar, lovely views, all the staff were very welcoming, pleasant and good at their jobs. I highly recommend this place for the area position and price.

I went the week before Xmas with my two teenage daughters, and another family. The staff were freindly and helpful, the food was very good with great variety for this type of hotel, the rooms were clean and comfortable, it was ideally located for the ski lifts and they very kindly upgraded us to a much bigger room than that which we had booked. I would go back again. The only thing that was a little dissappointing was the bar area could have done with a bit more atmosphere and made more attractive. If it were mine, I would have a variety of fancy bottles and glasses on display to entice the customers. Would certainly go back again though.

We went as a family for a week to the Hotel Alpenaussicht in Obergurgl and had booked a room type E and half pension. Overall, we were not satisfied and had expected much more. Basically, we can say that everything was fine. The rooms were clean and very large, the WLAN was good. The beds were made daily and towels were changed on request. The sauna area was also clean and nicely furnished. What we really missed, however, was the warm hospitality and service. We did not feel welcome in this 4 star hotel. It started on arrival - where we had ordered dinner in advance - as the arrival time was not exactly predictable. The greeting came with the statement that our arrival had not yet been taken into account and that cold dishes had actually been planned. When we arrived it was 6:45 pm... We were then served dinner, but in my opinion it was not a warm welcome. The food was unfortunately the biggest disappointment overall. Another review had already mentioned the quality of a mid-range canteen, which I can only confirm. The four courses could be taken independently from a buffet, but I almost had the impression that I had to beg for the main course. If a wish was expressed, for example to have some vegetables with a dish, it was either given unwillingly or sometimes declined. If starters were eaten up, some were not refilled at all or you had to wait a very long time for them. In terms of sustainability, a lot of food was recycled, which I consider to be positive. However, the quality for the guests should not suffer as a result. Dry bread from breakfast or the day before, cheese that was yellowed or dry scrambled eggs, to name a few examples, are not the quality I would expect from a 4-star hotel. Bath robes for the sauna had to be rented separately and there was no drinking water in the room. To summarize, everything would have been fine for me if the night per Person would not cost 176€. The lack of quality and hospitality as well as service and the unreasonable price make me look back rather negatively on the week at the Hotel Alpenaussicht. Therefore unfortunately no recommendation.
