We enjoyed our brief stay at the Arawak Beach Resort when our Air Canada flight was cancelled due to Tropical storm Phillip. The staff and hotel manager rallied to accommodate a bus load of stranded passengers. Although at no time did we feel unsafe from the effects of the storm, it was so nice to feel so welcomed, safe, and accommodated for a short timeframe. The grounds are lovely and the rooms are extremely clean. I had a gorgeous view of the ocean. The meals were also good. The bartender makes a stiff rum and coke. I will have to return someday to enjoy the property during sunnier times. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Arawak for a great stay. (Additional note: We were delayed a second day and the hotel accommodated us again upon our return. They kept our check-in details from our first check-in so we had our same rooms again and it made the hassle of returning so much easier. And somehow a tasty dinner buffet for tired and starving passengers appeared again with very little notice of our arrival. The drinks were also well flowing that second night. Thanks again Arawak Hotel.)
I really loved this hotel and I am bummed I had to give it only 4 stars. The location is great - it is on a busy center street of Gosier right on the beach next to restaurants and some shops .It is located right on the beach. It is very close (walking distance ~ 10 mn) to a boat port where you can go a small island call "Islet Gosier" which is a must to visit. The hotel is dated but has stunning views from the lobby and bedrooms make up for it. The only problem with the bedrooms is the mattress which was very uncomfortable because it is a mattress with springs. The breakfast was included and had a good selection of essential western breakfast foods: fruits, yogurts, breads , pastries and eggs/omelettes., coffee/teas. However they had no sugar alternatives like stevia, equal and no milk alternatives like almond or soy milk. The staff had to put in an order for "special request for me" ; this took 2 days to get some equal and soy milk. I travel often and have never been to a hotel at this price point with no sugar and milk alternatives; The staff was so nice , I would go back and just email them the requests in advance. It is important to note that Guadeloupe does not have massive tourism like Jamaica, Bahamas, Mexico etc and the hotel standards are not the same. It is a Gorgeous island and a must visit . I recommend this hotel.
The internet did not work, there was no hot water with the shower
