This hotel was a surprise to me! The location is outside town however it just take 15 minutes to reach town on foot or you can use the shuttle for couple of euros; on the other hand the hotel sits on a perfect view point. You can see from your window the icebergs, port and the ice fjords from a distance. The room was spacious comfortable and functional. Fridge and a kettle were available. The bathroom even had a tube! It was quiet and very peaceful to rest! Staff were efficient! Also the hotel provides shuttles to/from the airport no charge. I tried the restaurant and I was impressed by the staff and quality of food. I know the hotel is pricey but it is an experience! Highly recommended!!
Nice hotel although the rooms are like most in Greenland - a bit small, and the location, at the edge of town, leads to nice views but is a little bit of a walk. Restaurant is very good, ample seating areas in the lobby and hallway to the rooms/restaurant, a decent sized play room/lounge, and a decently equipped but kind of cramped gym.
I had a very mixed experience at hotel arctic so I’ll go through the good and bad: Good: 1. The rooms were big and clean - I stayed in a junior suite and a great view. 2. Breakfast was delicious 3. Restaurant was good to eat at (though pricey) 4. Shuttle from airport was convenient 5 the evening staff and everyone except the people mentioned below were nice and friendly In between: 1. Hotel is about a mile from center of town. It’s definitely walkable and I did that everyday. I love walking so it was no problem- but if you don’t like walking there is shuttle available Bad: 1. The front desk woman during the week was truly awful. She was impossible to engage with- when I arrived early I asked if I could drop my bags and then walk into town to pass time until check in- she just waved me off. So I sat in lobby for a few hours. At check in time she said my room was not ready even though it should have been. When she finally got me a key I asked how to get to room and she just pointed in no particular direction. I got lost trying to find it as it was up the stairs and in another building (a very lovely cleaning woman helped me). I was not the only person who complained about her as I interacted with several other guests who stated that she gave them misinformation and couldn’t be bothered to help. 2. I cancelled my dinner reservation at restaurant which required payment up front. I cancelled within the time required but got conflicting information via email. One email asked me to go to front desk to get refund. I went to front desk (and of course the same woman was there). I showed her the email and she said to go to booking manager and when I asked where it was she pointed down a hallway. Shockingly it wasn’t there. I stopped at restaurant and asked them - and the lovely lady there brought me back to front desk. Then she helped get booking manager who was behind front desk- which is where I came earlier . Then he processed refund. Then I get a call saying that they processed it twice so I had to come back and run my card again or give them my credit card info in email. I was definitely not going to do that so I came back down. Unfortunately the same woman was there but so was booking manager. I explained that no refund was on my card yet so I was hesitant to be charged again when I didn’t have one refund let alone two. So he said they would just put a hold and then we could review the next day to ensure I wasn’t getting charged twice. That same woman was supposed to put a hold- but guess what- she charged the card for full amount . I strongly recommend that they find someone to replace her 3. I booked hotel through a third party website for miles- and when I never received the miles I contacted the website. They contacted the hotel who said (and I’m certain it was the same woman but I don’t have proof) I checked in and out on June 24 when I actually checked in June 21 and checked out June 25. Now I’m in a dispute over this. It’s honestly an incredibly disorganized hotel and lacking for a 4 star hotel. 4. They don’t have blackout curtains- which can really be hard for 24 hours of sunshine - so bring an eye mask.
