Newly renovated and restored. It's an historical landmark building, and gorgeous. The rooms aren't huge, but they're beautifully appointed. The restaurant is wonderful, with top-notch service. Alissa was our waitress, and was informative, extremely helpful and friendly. Nicole was the person cleaning our floor, and she did an INCREDIBLE job. All in all, it's a great property. Definitely recommended!!!!
Let me begin by saying that I love a boutique hotel. We were looking forward to staying in this one on our drive back to NC from Chicago. Our experience was lack luster at best. The hotel aesthetics are nice, the staff is friendly, and the shower pressure is solid. The waitstaff in the restaurant were professional and engaging. The food was okay- not great. I would rate our dinner a 5 out of 10. There were several mechanical issues that made our stay less than enjoyable. The hallways were hot. It took about 15 minutes to get into our room when we arrived because the keys did not work. The AC in our room ran all night. It was loud and even though our room was set on 68, it never got cool. This was likely due to the hallway being so hot. Unfortunately, this property is not what I would expect from a "Tapestry" collection hotel.
I must admit that this experience has felt like the twilight zone and I gave the manager ample opportunity to speak with me in an attempt to resolve my various issues before writing this review. Upon check in (two day stay), I was greeted by a lovely young lady who checked me in without delay. Room 614 was the room I was assigned. The moment I got off the elevator, I was met with a terrible sewer smell within the hall. I brushed it off and headed to my room. Room was hot and stuffy so I turned on the ac. Loudest ac unit I’ve ever heard in my life. Attempted to get work done and take a nap after this and it was impossible. I couldn’t choose between air and noise so I asked to be switched. The next room was 901 and apparently an “upgrade”. Got into the room, all was going fine until I heard loud noises coming from the restroom and seemingly above me. A few hours later, I get an unexpected knock at my door from someone stating they had to enter the room to measure something. I wasn’t dressed or expecting this visit so I declined. I was then called and told I had to let him in. Reported the noises and apparently maintenance came while I stepped away to address the issues. Pleasant young lady at the front desk stated that maintenance would offer free breakfast the next morning. When I returned to the room, nothing had been done. After unbearable noise seemingly coming from the elevators through the wall and ceiling, I reported it again. Why was I moved across the hall to 914 on the OTHER SIDE OF THE ELEVATORS?! I was tired of complaining at this point and was just hoping I could use the hotel earplugs (sign) to drown out the noise for my last night. Fail. Not only did I continue to hear noise from the elevators but the air conditioner was beyond loud. All night, it cut on and off loudly to the point where I got little to no sleep after being woken up every 30 minutes. During check out, 2 men were at the desk. I was asked about my stay and gave a detailed recap of the challenges. One of the men walked away shortly after I began sharing my experience. No offering to rectify the issues were given. Instead the response was “ok let me give you a printout”. I asked (one last attempt) if there was any other response that would be given for the issues during my stay. Man at desk stated that he told the manager already. Turns out the man who walked away was the manager. He did not come out to speak with me after hearing me and being notified. Will report directly to Hilton now. Was willing to work with them off the strength of the polite staff experiences prior.
