We had a truly enjoyable stay at Hotel Augustus in Salou. The location is wonderful — the hotel is right on the beachfront, which made it easy to enjoy morning swims and evening walks along the coast. The pool and surrounding deck were very nice as well, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel breakfast was another highlight — for just €15 per person, the buffet was generous, delicious, and absolutely worth it. It’s a very family-friendly hotel, with lots of children and family activities, so if that’s what you’re after, it’s a great choice. If you’re looking for a quiet or romantic couples’ getaway, this might not be the ideal setting. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had a small issue with the bathroom, and maintenance arrived within 15 minutes to fix it — really quick and efficient. That said, a couple of small things fell short: the pool bar drinks weren’t great, and none of the TV channels seemed to work. Not dealbreakers, but worth noting. Even though the hotel is rated as 4 stars, I’d personally say it feels more like a solid 3-star — still a great stay overall, with good service and a fantastic location. One last thing — and this is really important to me: After checking out, I realized I accidentally left behind my stuffed animal, Humphrey — he’s a small golden retriever stuffed dog and holds a lot of emotional value to me. I would be eternally grateful if there’s any chance the housekeeping team found him. Unfortunately, I’m not able to return in person, but if he’s found, I would be more than happy to cover any shipping costs to have him sent back to me. Thank you so much in advance for your kindness and help — it would truly mean the world to me.
After reading the other great reviews, I think we might have gotten one of the older rooms. The common areas like the lobby and restaurant were beautiful and always clean. The front desk employees were all lovely and helpful, helping very quickly and giving very clear explanations. However, compared to all other 4-star hotels we've stayed at, this one had the most room for improvement inside the room itself. There were clear signs of wear and tear on basically all the furniture in the room, the light was crooked, the tv is old, the phone wasn't plugged in, most of the international tv channels don't work. In the bathroom there was mold on the window, there's only 1 generic soap (no specified shampoo, bodywash, conditioner, or lotion), and when they clean the room, they only clean the sink and mirror. The toilet was a bit gross. They also left dirty glasses after they cleaned the room. The airco didn't get colder than 22 or 23 degrees, which I guess if you care about the environment, that's a plus :) On the plus side, there were a lot of hangers in the closet! And it's really great to have a balcony with built-in racks to hang dry clothes and towels. All in all it was a positive experience, because we were only in the room for 10% of the time anyway. The only thing that really bothered us was the mold. Besides that, if you don't look too closely, you'll be fine and you'll have a great time.
Location of the hotel is absolutely great, close to wherever you want to go (beach, restaurants, shops, bus stop). The reception staff are great and friendly. Rooms are decent size with air conditioning, which is necessary when outside is 34degree. Pool good size but access to the sunbeds is limited, 90% of the time occupied by someone's towel. The hotel has easi access to the beach but no hotel sunbeds on the beach. The beach belongs to a private owner with a silly price for a sunbed per day (away from the hotel, prices can be even 50% less). If you want to rest, after all day, not in this hotel. All day is not much happening but from 9pm entertainment starts in Augustus and Cesar Augustus hotels (other side of the road) until around midnight.... no way to get sleep..... Lovely area with a plenty nice places where you can walk.
