Hotel Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort Spa and Convention Center

The hotel is very nice. Service is superb everywhere. Pools are nice and big enough for a swim twice a day. Only hick up is that the sea is inaccessible (dangerous as it is naturally the pacific ocean) but even for a good swimer like my husband who would have liked a nice swim when the sea was calmer, the motorized vehicles (banana ride, parachute boat, waterskii) make it very dangerous to swim. We really enoyed our long walks at night, as the hotel is big and you can walk between hotels as well (Azul Beach and Azul Resort). A plus, is that yo uhave access to the pools in the other hotel, which has an adults only area. And the beach and sea area was better, once we discoverd we simply wlaked to the other hotel (same chain) and enjoyed a smaller and more private beach.

This is a Spanish speaking hotel 99% of the guests are Mexican. There is no diversity here. The food is all Mexican and at times not very good. Reservations to a nicer restaurant is difficult. The staff was polite but only speak Spanish. Car rental is a must at this location. There is no ice machine on any floors and no refrigerator in the room and not available by request. We did found a snack bar our 3rd day offering pizza, hotdogs and burgers with fries. No after hours food available. You cannot walk far on the beach and the sand is brown and hard. You will need a lounge chair. The pools are nice and clean but the life guards are a little aggressive with the whistle blowing. My opinion, choose a resort in Cancun.

Beautiful place great service from most of the people, but there were some people that gave horrible service. I wanted to play ping pong with my son, there was lady work told me a time to come back and she had a whole time sheet where she put the info. I came back earlier and stood in line 2 families cut me while I waited, that didn’t bother me. My turn came I told here about the pin pong and told her the time she told me to come back. She said sorry the tables have been given away, I said oh but you said to come at this time plus I’m early. She said sorry can’t do anything about it. I told her this, you didn’t tell me to wait next to you 1 and 2 you didn’t tell me about early tables leaving and whoever shows up gets the table and forget whoever you wrote down. My son and his cousin who are both 7 were sad and we didn’t get to play this was after 10pm but we did what the worker told us to do because those were the rules but I guess she didn’t want to follow the rules. I also told her what she can do for us so we can just play for maybe 5 minutes max. She didn’t know what to do.
