Hotel Balneario La Hermida

Did the thermal spa experiencia outside and it was amazing. Lots of different pools with different temperatures to choose from. Would recommend going on a colder day because the pools are all warm

The hotel is very dated, bed linen and rooms are clean, but very basic with concrete ceilings. Our room had stains down the wall by the bed. No towels in room, shower goes scalding hot with no warning, room smells of wee, the vent from the kitchen must have been by are room as the smell of fried food came in the room very late into the night. I would not recommend this hotel, £130 to use the pool for guests, only for for 90 min, even though no one else was using it. Another £100 to use the indoor pool, and steam room. A 4* hotel costing around £450 a night should feel luxurious.

The hotel is located in a steep gorge behind a quick flowing river. If dramatic scenery is your thing it's an incredible spot. The hotel is, however, a little tired and in need of some renovation and the staff take a few days to 'warm' to you. The only road that accesses the hotel is currently undergoing major road works so expect delays for 12 months or so from the time of writing. That said, it shouldn't put you off because traffic is light and managed efficiently.
