Hotel Bannatyne Darlington

Stayed for one night on business. Staff are very attentive, helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean but extremely hot. The window was open and a fan was on when I got to the room but not very effective. Didn't eat dinner or breakfast as wasn't hungry. Good location for exploring Darlington and its quiet so great for a good night's sleep.

The hotel is in a great location. Room was clean and bed comfy. Unfortunately the constant slamming of doors made it impossible to get a good night sleep so I won't be returning. The 10 million watt floodlight outside my window didn't help.

Booked two nights on business, reasonable check-in but not a particularly warm welcome, although not rude. A nice old building with maintenance that has made a good attempt at keeping up, but would probably lose some of its charm if it were modernised. I didn't have a meal other than buffet breakfast, which was of good quality, nothing stood out as exceptional and drinks were quickly served. The evening meal menu seemed a little on the full meal side, while I fancied a lighter bite, hence not giving it a go. Room was clean, a very good range of tea/coffee/chocolate, and some biscuits too. The ceiling lights didn't work, which I forgot to mention (room 23), a nice fan to use in the room as it was warm weather, and lots of TV channels. Good value compared to alternatives, and the station wasn't far away as I travelled by train. I would stay again, and would like to try the spa.
