Lovely. They noticed my walking stick (recent injury) and were kind and considerate and changed arrangements to suit me. Strongly recommend.
The building itself is a work of art. We were luckily upgraded to a deluxe suite room in the main building, with fantastic view overlooking the charming courtyard garden and mountain trees further away. The room itself was clean, well-decorated and sufficiently equipped. The gentleman at the reception desk was very helpful, welcoming, and professional. In general we greatly enjoyed our stay there. The only complaint is about the breakfast service. We sat inside the dining room since all the outside spots were taken. By the time all other guests left and we were the only guests remained eating( still 45 mins before the breakfast service ended) , the staffs began to clean up the tables, making all kinds of noise banging cupboards around and stirring up dusts all over the place. We felt so disturbed that we just finished our breakfast in a haste. Why just couldn’t they clean up until guests finish their breakfast? Or is this another case of racial discrimination since our presence seemed “ invisible” to them? This is not the service I expected in a 4-star hotel, with a price like this. They should be properly trained to respect their guests, regardless of their country of origin or racial appearance.
This is a very shabby hotel which is in need of updating . Its belle epoque credentials apply only to the exterior. Inside it's full of very bad cheap reproduction artwork . The first room we were shown had grubby carpets, overfilled with random bits of furniture and 1980s style upholstery . Electrical points etc are also very old . The afternoon tea that they promote as a feature is actually a samovar and box of tea bags . You serve yourself and there are a couple of slices of cake left out on the side . That's not afternoon tea! Breakfast also very lacklustre. Parking is expensive and the only saving grace ( might be that it has a garden in summer ... perhaps???) is its central location . Short staffed but helpful and dealt with room change request very graciously . I guess they're used to that. All in all a waste of money and most importantly you cannot make up for the disappointment and feeling a bit ripped off
