I've been checking out hotel offers through Revolut and for this hotel I wanted to try how it works through this portal. I clicked on the free booking and without any notification, Revolut started deducting the full amount of the stay from my account. When I found this out I immediately cancelled the booking and requested a refund. The hotel's response was a curt "We do not accept your request" and that was the end of their communication despite my best efforts. Before confirming the booking I was not informed that the payment was not refundable and not that they did not refund the payment they had taken from my account but they wanted the rest of the payment for the accommodation which I had already cancelled so I had to block my card. I made the reservation on 1.7 for the date 14.8 and I cancelled it 10 minutes after entering. But I will never see the money again. I know that ignorance is no excuse, but in this situation I think it would have been appropriate to take a more humane approach to the situation. I won't go to this hotel again even if they paid me for it.
