Absolute gem of a hotel, comfortable rooms, kept beautifully clean everyday. Every member of staff that we came into contact with was exceptional, from reception, bar staff, the shuttle drivers. And Victoria in the kids club provided fantastic play for all the children. Pizza making was a definite hit. Would definitely stay here again best ski holiday we’ve ever had.
The Bergwelt is absolutely stunning hotel. The atmosphere is classy, relaxed, and warm. It is the best of Austrian hospitality. Ski in and ski out facilities with free transfers to and from the ski school for novices. The welcome drinks on arrival were lovely and the room was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The spa has extensive facilities including a heated outdoor pool to relax under the stars and snow. The food is superb. Each evening there’s a 5 course menu. Our only issue would be the quality of the service in the panorama bar. The staff are a bit slow. The afternoon tea is poor quality with dry cakes. Checking previous reviews it seems that no action has made on the bar, which is disappointing. All in all we will be returning to Bergwelt for next year’s ski holiday, we have had a fantastic stay.
Nice hotel overall, but has some room for improvement in a few areas. The good: - Room (C2 suite) overall was nicely appointed, although a bit small compared to others we have stayed in this price range. No view to speak of as it faces away from the ski area. - The spa area was very nice, the heated outdoor pool was a favorite. - Nice ski room with easy exit/entry access and not too crowded. - Breakfast buffet was excellent, with lots of variety and good products. - The shuttle drivers to/from the main ski area were great! Needs improvement: - Service at the bar was not attentive, bordering on dismissive. Service at breakfast and dinner was friendly, but not overly attentive. Had to ask for water or wine refills constantly. - Charging for water at dinner, what a ridiculous concept when we have paid handsomely for half-board to charge us 4 EURO for each small bottle of tap water. The same water was FREE at breakfast and in the rooms, so this is just a sad money grab and not advertised anywhere. - Our suite had pre-existing water damage in the ceiling of the bathroom, and at night it leaked from the ceiling onto our heads before falling into the sink. When reported to reception there was no apology and barely recognition this was an issue. - Communication: we had a communication issue at dinner one night and were treated very poorly. Again, just ridiculous to argue with the customer when the communication error was the hotel’s. The customer is always right, especially when you make a mistake in your communication. - While this hotel is close to the slopes, it is not ski-in/ski-out. You need to walk at least 5 minutes to get to the area where you can ski down to a button lift. Returning is more difficult, as there is a very flat area and it’s all but impossible to make it without a 7-minute walk back in boots. Overall, enjoyed our stay, but wish the property would have been more considerate of several issues.
