Hotel Bettei Umi To Mori

I was looking for a quiet and remote yet clean and pristine onsen and this is exactly what I found, absolutely perfect. The private bath on the 3rd floor balcony with ocean view is amazing. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and made every effort to communicate. However due to the off season not all facilities were available (the cafe and pool was closed) and as a solo traveler is was complicated to book and I ended up having to pay for 2 people including dinner which was slightly more expensive than I would have wished for.

Lipstick on a pig. Stayed in an ocean front room with an outdoor hot tub. Views were lovely, but amenities are really basic, like literally the same stuff you find at a $95 a night onsen. The shower keeps stopping after 20 sec, and you have to keep pushing the button to run the water. And you have to keep calling the front desk a million times to adjust the temperature. They don’t let you adjust it yourself from the room. Ridiculous. Food was pretty so so. Nothing to write home about. I expect a lot more for $700 a night!

Service was rigid and terrible. Positively discriminated non Japanese clients, giving us the worst room with blocked views and worst dining table for the same price as everyone else. The room was dated and tatami was not comfortable to walk on due to worn and torn pieces. The onsen was terrible and many of the baths were not open. Many other better places with equally good views to stay at. Not recommended to come here given how expensive this place is!
