I really wanted to like this hotel. And it's not that it's bad, its perfectly adequate, but there is quite a bit of false information. Rooms that are pictured to be bright and beautiful have very poor lighting, quite dark even if you turn on all the lights available. One of the reasons I picked this hotel was for the rooftop and the views. Rooftop bar has been and is closed due to construction, there is construction in the lobby, unfortunately nothing is mentioned on the website. Service from the front desk is adequate, but uninspiring. Breakfast is excellent. Location is excellent. Price is good for what you get.
The hotel itself is very nice and in a location central to the historic centre. We were upgraded to a suite with an amazing view of the large church and beautiful fountain out front. The breakfast was also very good. Lots of choices including traditional Romanian options. However, unfortunately I was unimpressed with the service. We had selected parking when booking so they knew we were driving. There were many streets blocked off due to a national celebration and even though the staff were aware of this, there was no communication from them about how to go about getting to their parking lot accessible only from the closed streets. After over an hour of driving around and around, we finally found a paid parking spot not far from the hotel. Apparently, they expected us to just know it was okay to drive around barricades and the wrong way down one-way streets to get to their parking. When we did finally get into the parking after we'd gone for dinner, we discovered there was no lift from the parking, so we had to drag our suitcases up the stairs from the parking. At no point did anyone working there offer us assistance as we struggled our way up. Same thing when we checked out. I suspected the upgrade was due to our obvious troubles just getting to the hotel, but if so, it wasn't enough to erase the negative experience. Overall, a beautiful spot, but very disappointed.
I don’t understand how this hotel has 4 stars… maybe it did in the past, but definitely not now. In the room, you can hear cars, motorbikes, etc., even with the windows closed. The bed has a ridiculous topper because the mattress is crap. The shower has no pressure, and the bathroom sink is so low you basically have to be on your knees to wash your face haha
