Our stay was great! The room and hotel were nice, great value for sure. The room was clean and nice for the price. It was clean and had essentials no ac but the provided a fan (I was here end of July-First week of Aug) it never got above 70 degrees so the room was perfect! The neighborhood at night is not great but its the heart of downtown so it was to be expected. I wouldn't recommend a late night stroll outside but the hotel itself felt safe a secure the door is always locked with a code to get in. Punya, at the front desk was so friendly and accommodating. Our flight left way after checkout and they held our bag no problem while we explored the city. I felt comfortable leaving my stuff with them, he was really great just adding excellent customer satisfaction! He also explained getting to the Oakland Airport on city transport which saved a bunch on money on an Uber! Thanks for the stay and would definitely come back!!!

Beautiful hotel in a charming neighborhood just across the river from the city. Hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and gracious. Daily breakfast was outstanding and the shops, cafes, and bakeries nearby ensured we had no shortage of options. There is also a well-sized grocery store just across the main intersection and easy access to the metro. Would recommend to anyone traveling for work or leisure.

Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Bijou was extremely disappointing. The moment we entered the room, we were hit with a horrible smell — a mix of damp, old carpet and musty air that felt trapped. Everything inside the room felt outdated and poorly maintained. To make matters worse, we found a huge roach during our stay. The window had no screen, so leaving it open was not an option without risking birds or bugs coming in from outside. The surrounding area didn’t feel safe either — there were a lot of homeless individuals nearby, which added to our discomfort. The only positive was the front desk staff — they were genuinely kind and helpful. But unfortunately, the hotel itself deserves zero stars if that were possible. Definitely not worth the price. I would not stay here again.
