We had a wonderful stay at Bloemendal Castle — truly one of the nicest hotels in the area. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, and the setting is just beautiful. Breakfast was absolutely superb, with a wide and high-quality selection that made for a perfect start to each day. Dinner was also very good, both in taste and presentation. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the spa had just recently opened — a lovely addition to the hotel. It’s a great space to unwind and recharge. The only small thing we missed were some cups or glasses for water in the spa area — especially helpful when you’re relaxing and sweating. Overall, an excellent experience and we’d definitely come back!
A wonderful building with beautiful grounds, a perfect getaway. Nice bar and terrace (not badly priced too) and we wish we made the most of the spa and pool but we didn't have time. Weirdly it said the bar was 24/7 - clearly not so maybe some odd local joke by the manager... We had a castle room with a great view of the grounds, only issue is that the pillows are massive - i.e. too high and gives you a bad neck. We didn't try the restaurant but it's looked fancy enough and most importantly the smells coming from lunch prep were very tantalising. As mentioned, use the spa and pool, they looked very classy. In the summer just grab a drink and go lie on the wonderful grass and watch the trees in the breeze, nothing beats it. Plus at night it's dark enough for stars and satellite spotting.
Nice old building/building and beautiful domain behind jt, very nice to take a walk in the garden. The pool and sauna are clearly very new, what made it a disappointment for us though is that the water was very cold and therefore not appropriate for our 2 year old toddler. When we asked at the reception they told us it is 28 degrees but I don't think it was. They were not very willing to check this or do something to heat it up more. The room itself was very disappointing for the following reasons: - especially in the bathroom you could see in all corners it was not cleaned properly - the shower had mould on the ceiling, so there was not appropriate ventilation in the bathroom - the bathroom door had a water damage on the bottom... not understandable why it does not get repaired - some fixtures were loose - when i put the luggage on the built in closet, the bottom panel just fell off - the balcony was not cleaned... pity because it was a beautiful day to sit outside - the ventilation in the room keeps blowing cold air even when you switch it off...not good when you have a child - the switches in the bedroom were sticky, so clearly also not cleaned - there is an automatic door closer on the bathroom door, very annoying - the toilet itself is pressed inside a corner in the bathroom which makes you have to push yourself in there and feels very narrow All in alll we felt that the hotel has a lot of potential if the management would do a better effort...but for now it is not worth the 300 euro you pay a night...
