The hotel personel is friendly, but they only put 1 towels in our room for two persons. And when we checked out, they charged us (without notice) for the theft of a towel. However, the second towel was never there. So, be careful with being charged extra fees, because they just set you up. I came back to explain the situation and nobody seems to care, as they trust the cleaner more. Really weird. Never experienced something like this.
I’m writting this at 12am. There’s a party in the lobby and no one from the hotel is doing anything about it. Can’t get any sleep in this joke of a place. Better to sleep on the streets. Only booked this property as my flight was delayed and it was the closest to my old hotel. Worst decision of my trip to Colombia.
I’m not kidding when I say this is the worst hotel in my 2 months of traveling in Latam. Pros - Prior to arrival, they were responsive when asking for payment - The room was reasonably clean Cons - I paid prior to arrival and they said they’d send check-in details but I got nothing. When I was already in Cartagena, I messaged to ask about check-in details, and got 1 tick on WA. - WiFi was extremely spotty for the first 1.5 days but I just beared with it. Keep in mind that I’m a digital nomad and am working 3 jobs online so wifi is extremely important. However, on the third day, there was no wifi at all. This is unacceptable especially because the room advertised as having free wifi. - When I went down to complain, the staff just said it was down. But he was nice and bought me coffee at a coffee shop so I can use their wifi. He promised it would be repaired in 20 minutes. - However when I returned 5 hours later, there was still no WiFi. That night I had 3h of online meetings so I was really annoyed. I went down again and he said we can go to buy data for my phone that I can hotspot. I said ok. However, when it came to payment, he asked me to pay and I absolutely refused. I paid for this room because of the free wifi, so why in the world should I have to pay extra? - The toggling of hotspot from my phone to laptop was troubling but I made do - Next morning, I was woken up multiple times because the staff claimed I needed to check out. However, I have made 2 consecutive reservations and prior to arrival, received confirmation that I can stay in the same room - I messaged the management/administration and realised I hadn’t paid for one of the reservations (even though they confirmed I have on WA). Thats ok then, my bad and I paid. - Before I paid, I asked again about the wifi issue. The hotel refused to take any responsibility or provide any options and alternatives. I agree it wasn’t their fault that the wifi is down (apparently there were repairs with the telco), but as a customer service business, they should offer some sort of alternative. I asked for a late check-out and a recharge of the data because of this problem - It was not only refused, but the management had the gall to tell me to check out at that moment and find another hotel. Let me repeat: AT THE VERY SAME TIME ON THE VERY SAME DAY, the management immediately wanted me to find another room for myself. Absolutely ridiculous. - The WiFi continued to be down for the remainder of my stay and the hotel continued not providing any alternatives or options. - 1 hour before checkout, there was a blackout so there was no electricity or water. I needed to brush my teeth and wash my face before checking out. I went down to complain, and again, the initial response was “this is not our fault. The whole area doesn’t have electricity”. I demanded they give me water bottles for me to wash up. When I checked out, they insisted I had to pay for those bottles of water. Conclusion: the hotel staff are ok and helpful but the management is extremely selfish, profit-oriented and exploitative. They do not embody any principle of good customer service at all. There are much more and better hotels around the area. I recommend not staying in this one.
