The hotel is beautiful, decorated with great taste, modern and comfortable. Excellent beds, fridge, everything was perfect. Swimming pool and a huge park. Breakfast and bar excellent. What kept me from giving it a 5 stars is the person who checked us in and out, the first and last impression of the hotel, a young lady with the tact of an army sergeant. Perhaps she should be trained to ask people things like: was everything ok? The rest of the hotel staff is super friendly and do their best. Our room was at the end of the corridor and the pressure of water in the sink was very low, difficult to rinse hands. Plenty of parking and charger for electric cars
A deeply upsetting and discriminatory experience! We are a German-American family—Black and white—traveling from New York with two young children. We’ve traveled extensively around the world and have never been treated with such disrespect and humiliation as we were at this hotel. The owner locked us out of our room and apparently filmed it without our consent, then publicly called us out in the reception area in front of our children. When we calmly responded, he told us: “You can get out of my house and walk through the gate.” The supposed issue? The room was untidy—not damaged, just messy, as can happen when traveling with young kids. There were dirty towels left on the bathroom floor, clothing and toys scattered around, and the kids had been playing with bedding. There was no closet to organize things. We were jet lagged and doing our best. In addition to this unacceptable treatment, the hotel room was dusty (my black clothes came out covered in dust), the air conditioning was so loud the kids couldn’t sleep, and on the first night, people were drinking and talking loudly outside until 2 a.m. Although hotel staff later offered us a free drink, we checked out early to keep our dignity. The treatment we received was demeaning and clearly racially biased. Varese itself is beautiful, and there are many kind, welcoming people and plenty of family-friendly agriturismi in the area. It’s easy to avoid this hotel—and we strongly encourage other mixed or international families to do so.
I don't know how the accommodation deserved 4 stars, but I haven't stayed in such a poor hotel in a long time! We arrived with a group, the breakfast was one-sided, poor, they skimped on everything. In 36 degree heat, they only gave us water for the first two days, and then not anymore. In the last two days, they gave us breakfast on a plastic ticket, outrageously little, and even that in portions! We didn't pay for dinner, but the majority did and they reduced the portion very much, and then they gave us the same thing every day, and we even rebelled against it! The location is also such that there is nothing nearby! They don't deserve a single star, and the management was cynical towards the group! That's why I wouldn't recommend it for groups at all!
