Exquisite stay at Hotel Carol – Vatra Dornei We visited Hotel Carol as a couple and were thoroughly impressed by its charm and hospitality. The location is perfect — right in the heart of Vatra Dornei — making it easy to enjoy the surrounding beauty and attractions. Our room was impeccable: spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed. Service throughout our stay was excellent, with the staff attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The SPA facilities were a highlight — the Jacuzzi and sauna provided the perfect dose of relaxation after a day exploring the area. The inclusion of single-use slippers was a nice touch, although the bathrobes could be a little larger for added comfort. Breakfast was generous and tasty, though we would have loved to see more local cheese varieties and regional produce on the table. Also, as coffee lovers, we would have preferred to prepare our own coffee using the machine, rather than requesting refills from the staff. Overall, Hotel Carol delivers a refined, warm, and memorable experience — an ideal choice for those seeking both comfort and character in Vatra Dornei. We would gladly return.
I'm not staying at the hotel, but I've just had one of the best meals I've ever had in Romania here at their restaurant. I was attended very well by a young English speaking waitress. All three courses were delicious. The chicken soup, the trout with polenta and the Papanasi to finish. And their Palinca was very good too. I've been coming here for years. And I've always had a good experience. I have no idea what the hotel is like, but judging by the way I was treated this evening, and other times I have visited, it is clear that they take customer service seriously. And hats off to the restaurant team!
Location is great, staff nice& welcoming, breakfast plentiful. Wifi & parking available. You can leave luggage with reception but unfortunately we were unable to check out later than 11 am. Pillows could have been more comfortable & there were a couple of unwanted visitors in the bathroom. Nevertheless the rooms were big, clean and quiet despite being on the ground floor. Nice & comfortable outdoor terrace too. I'd visit again.
