Hotel Casa Palmela

My stay was absolutely wonderful. The place itself is stunning, they even have their own private forest where you can go on beautiful walks. But what really made it special were the people working there. Everyone was so kind and caring, especially the head waiter Joao, who is such a joy, super talented and speaks so many languages! Lillian at the front desk was also amazing. I had quite a few asks and they took care of everything with so much care. Really grateful for this stay.

We were looking for a uniquely located boutique hotel with wonderful views, rooms and service and we could not have found a more amazing place than Hotel Casa Palmela. Situated on a vineyard with sweeping mountain vistas in a national park that is close to Lisbon but tucked privately into nature, its rooms are spacious and its historic beauty is incredible. But what makes this hotel truly exceptional are the amazing staff who work there; the thoughtfulness and attention they provide each of their guests is beyond any level I have experienced. Joao who runs the dining room/kitchen went above and beyond to address all of our special requests and assure that our dining experiences were fantastic. The warmth and care of Joao and the front desk staff made our time there a true highlight of our Portugal trip.

Hotel was fine. Restaurant was great with great food, view and service. Restaurant was the highlight. Hotel staff are not well trained — we mostly got stuck with the “trainee” who was clearly just that. Massage was wonderful. Room (premium category) was absolutely tiny, impossible to have two suitcases out at the same time. The balcony off the room was wonderful with great view. Pool is sub par and there are not enough umbrellas for all the hotel guests. All in all, not likely to go back.
