It was a good hotel and great location , staff were nice
I stayed at the Central Park Hotel Trebinje on the night of Sunday July 27th 2025, as part of a Balkan Tour group that consisted of distinguished professionals and international guests. Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was deeply distressing and very disappointing. On arrival into my room late at night I received a phone call from my cousin staying in a neighbouring room. She had woken up with severe itching and discovered that the room was infested with bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) — both the bed and the walls were covered. As the groups leader, I immediately went down to the reception desk to report the situation, unfortunately the night staff on duty spoke no other language other than their own making communication nearly impossible, so with the aid of translation apps I explained the situation. I was shocked at the initial response - “The hotel is full. There is nothing we can do.” With such a dismissive attitude I insisted that someone accompany me to inspect the room in question, as I did not feel the situation was being taken seriously by the hotel. Together with a hotel staff member we then went to the room and what we witnessed was shocking and not something I would expect in any hotel, particularly not from a hotel of this standard, the bed was completely infested with bed bugs, and so too were the walls. As no alternative room was available my cousin moved her belongings into my room. In the meantime I went to the front desk and called our tour company to find a solution to the situation. My cousin then called me from my room to inform me that my room was infested too. I rushed back up to my room and found that although not as extreme as the first room, there were indeed bed bugs on the armchair and in the bed too. We immediately vacated my room and both went to the reception. By now it was around 1:30 AM. Thankfully our tour operator arranged alternative accommodation for us at a nearby hotel, and so in the middle of the night without any assistance from the Central Park Hotel, we walked with our suitcases to the alternative hotel. The whole episode was incredibly distressing and an experience I would not wish on anyone. Ironically, the Central Park Hotel in Trebinje is advertised to be one of the 'better' options in the area, however our experience would tend to indicate otherwise. In addition to the obvious hygiene issue we experienced the Central Park also had a general musty smell throughout the hotel seemingly emitting from the carpets and furniture, it also had torn curtains, all tending to indicate a general lack attention to the general hygiene and up keep of the property. So to advertise this hotel as “acceptable” or even “high-standard” is simply not accurate as it clearly fails to meet even the basic standards of European hygiene, especially as the hotel prides itself in welcoming international tourists including guests from Germany and other EU countries. I would suggest the hotel urgently undertakes a full inspection by a Professional pest control company and review its general standards, with a view to making significant improvements to the general cleanliness, and customer care within the hotel. I sincerely hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and takes the appropriate action without fail. I am writing this not only to warn future travelers but also in the hope that no one else experiences such a night as I did. Regards Nesrin Ricketts
Came here as part of a tour. Can second what has been said about preferential treatment. The entire buildings AC does not work, and the electrical power trips randomly. We requested a different room with AC, was told the place was fully booked.up only to find two other travellers at a later time were upgraded Breakfast was good, good location, but hard to sleep well without AC of consistent electricity to the room.
