Hotel Chicago Downtown Autograph Collection by Marriott

Very nice hotel. The location, service/staff, lobby, elevators, and hallways are all deserving of 5 stars. However, some of the furniture in the room was heavily scratched and appeared very worn. Also, my room advertised a view of the river. But I could actually see very little of the river. Mostly, I was staring at the honey comb buildings' parking garages. Definitely would not pay extra again for a "view of the river."

Furniture was beat up, stains on the carpet, peeling wallpaper and a super hard bed. Charged a $25 resort fee that could only be used for room service. My room was so gross that I didn’t want to it in it. Even the towels were threadbare. Not at all what I expect from Marriott. I heard afterwards that they recently acquired the property. Hopefully on the renovation list. So many great hotel options in the area. Avoid this one!

I am confused by all the good reviews because this hotel is absolutely disgusting. The bathroom was not clean and there was pink mold visible on the shower curtains. The bathroom sink had black dots. The room’s carpet was damp and the room carried a deep stench that we absolutely dreaded walking into. My husband and I tried calling room service for toilet paper and nobody answered. The only pro of this hotel was the location and how it is in close walking distance to great restaurants. Otherwise, I highly recommend avoiding this hotel. This is the worst hotel I have stayed in
